East Union reaches 34–0; Walnut, Ripley move on in volleyball playoffs

East Union carried its unbeaten season through another elimination test Saturday, sweeping Kemper County to reach 34–0, while Walnut won its tenth straight match and Ripley needed four sets to keep its postseason moving. Their victories led a busy day of Mississippi high-school volleyball playoff action on October 3, 2026.

East Union stays perfect; Walnut extends its run

The Urchins’ 3–0 victory over Kemper County preserved a perfect record as they advanced in the Class 2A tournament. East Union’s completed match report lists the team at 34–0, keeping the postseason on the same winning course as its regular season.

Walnut also advanced in Class 2A with a 3–0 win over Leland. The Wildcats are now 29–4, and the victory extended their winning streak to ten matches, according to the MaxPreps recap. East Webster is their next opponent, giving Walnut another hurdle after a straight-set start to this playoff run.

Ripley and Corinth advance in Class 4A

Ripley’s 3–1 victory over North Pontotoc gave the Tigers a winning record at 16–15 and extended their winning streak to three matches. The reported result also sends Ripley into a matchup with Itawamba Agricultural. The Tigers needed four sets to finish their opening playoff match.

Corinth also advanced with a straight-set victory. The Warriors swept Senatobia 3–0, improving to 6–16, and will face Mooreville next. The Corinth recap confirms the victory and the next opponent; the Warriors are moving on despite their losing overall record.

TCPS and Hickory Flat set up a Class 1A meeting

Tupelo Christian Prep ended Falkner’s playoff run with a 25–10, 25–12, 25–11 sweep, taking every set decisively and improving to 22–11. The match report confirms a 3–0 final. TCPS advances to face Hickory Flat, which was equally convincing in its own opener.

Hickory Flat beat West Tallahatchie 25–4, 25–4, 25–12 to move to 18–13. Abby Rowland supplied ten aces and eight kills, while Lauren Russell added seven aces, according to the Hickory Flat recap. The Rebels’ straight-set win secured their meeting with TCPS.

Pine Grove joined the Class 1A winners with a 3–0 victory over West Lowndes. The Panthers’ completed match report lists their record at 22–11 after the sweep, keeping their postseason alive alongside the other advancing teams.

Eupora carries region form into the playoffs

Eupora followed an unbeaten 8–0 district campaign with a 25–7, 25–7, 25–6 victory over Strayhorn in Class 2A. The Eagles are now 22–7.
