LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Ole Miss volleyball team lost to No. 22 Kansas in straight sets Friday night at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena. The Rebels, now 6-4, were defeated 25-19, 25-22, 25-13 by the Jayhawks (6-3).
Ole Miss was led by Melia Johnson, who tallied eight kills and three digs. Keirstyn Carlton, returning from injury, contributed four kills with a .444 hitting percentage and added four blocks. Shayla Meyer also made key contributions, including three swings and an ace.
The Rebels fought hard in the first set, keeping it close at 15-14 before Kansas pulled away with a mini run, eventually winning 25-19. In the second set, Ole Miss took an early 9-6 lead but Kansas responded, eventually winning 25-22 after a late rally by the Rebels. The third set saw Kansas extend an early lead, and the Jayhawks dominated the final frame, winning 25-13 and clinching the match.
Ole Miss will conclude its non-conference schedule Saturday afternoon against Grand Canyon at 2 p.m. CT. The match will be streamed via ESPN Plus. Fans are encouraged to support the Rebels through the ACE Club and Rebel Rewards programs.
