Ole Miss Falls to Florida in SEC Road Game

Ole Miss suffered a 52-28 loss to Florida on Saturday in Gainesville, marking their first Southeastern Conference road defeat of the season. The game was the 28th meeting between the teams, with Florida now leading the series 14-13-1, according to school records.

Florida’s victory was highlighted by a strong offensive performance, with the Gators scoring 52 points. Ole Miss’s Trinidad Chambliss accounted for three touchdowns, including a 40-yard rushing score early in the second half, which marked his 100th career collegiate touchdown. He finished with 298 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and two rushing scores.

Chambliss has now thrown a touchdown pass in 17 consecutive games, the third-longest streak in Ole Miss history. He surpassed 5,800 career total yards, moving into 10th place all-time at Ole Miss, according to school officials. Wide receiver Deuce Alexander led Ole Miss in receiving with 134 yards on seven catches.

Defensively, linebacker Keaton Thomas led the team with 11 tackles, adding a pass breakup. Defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis recorded a career-high four tackles. Special teams standout Lucas Carneiro connected on a 36-yard field goal, extending his streak to nine games and tying him for eighth in school history with 38 career field goals.

Ole Miss, now 2-2 overall, will look to rebound in upcoming games, with their next matchup scheduled against Vanderbilt. Florida improved to 3-1 with the win, continuing their SEC schedule.
