No. 3 Vanderbilt Tops Ole Miss Soccer 4-0

Ole Miss soccer was defeated 4-0 by No. 3 Vanderbilt on Thursday night at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. The Commodores scored their first goal in the 22nd minute and added three more in the second half to secure the win.

Sydney Watts opened the scoring for Vanderbilt, finishing a play set up by Megan Hinnenkamp and Courtney Jones. The Rebels responded with two shots from Ava Ghoreishi, including a save from Vanderbilt goalkeeper Alexa Gianoplus in the 26th minute.

Mia Hebert scored unassisted for Vanderbilt in the 30th minute, doubling the lead. Isabella Pontieri nearly responded less than a minute later, but her shot was saved. Ole Miss managed five attempts and three corner kicks in the first half, but could not find the net.

Vanderbilt extended its lead in the second half, with Olivia Stafford scoring off an assist from Melania Fullerton in the 66th minute. Hebert added her second goal in the 72nd minute to complete the scoring. Vanderbilt finished with a 16-7 shot advantage and a 7-2 edge in shots on goal, both teams with five corner kicks each.

Ole Miss goalkeeper Taylor Prigge played the full 90 minutes, recording three saves. The Rebels will host Texas on Sunday at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. CT. The match will stream on SEC Network+.
