Mississippi State, Ole Miss Set for Magnolia Cup Rivalry Kickoff

Mississippi State will face Ole Miss in an SEC women’s soccer matchup Friday at 7 p.m. CT in Oxford. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+. State seeks its seventh straight Magnolia Cup victory, extending the longest winning streak in the rivalry’s history, according to school sources.

The Bulldogs and Rebels enter the game with a combined record of 13-2-0 (.867), the highest winning percentage in the rivalry’s history. This year’s meeting is also the first since 1995 where both teams are led by first-year head coaches—State’s Joe Moore and Ole Miss’s Todd Shulenberger.

State holds a 12-15-5 series record against Ole Miss and has won six consecutive games in the rivalry. The Bulldogs have scored first in every game of their current winning streak and have not allowed a goal to Ole Miss since the 52nd minute of their 2021 meeting— a span of nearly 400 minutes.

Ole Miss, 7-1-0 this season, has posted six shutouts and has not conceded a goal in 284 minutes. The Rebels have six different players with game-winning goals. Shulenberger, entering his 12th season at Ole Miss, previously led Washington State to the 2019 College Cup and has brought 17 newcomers to the program, including eight who played under him at WSU.

Following Friday’s game, Mississippi State hosts No. 23 Florida on Sept. 18 for its home SEC opener. Fans can watch the match at 6 p.m. on SEC Network+.
