The Northwest Mississippi Community College volleyball team continued its unbeaten season with two wins on the road in Arkansas. The Rangers defeated Henderson State College in straight sets and swept Champion Christian College, allowing only 18 points across three sets, to improve their record to 22-0.
In the first match, Northwest defeated Henderson State JV 3-0. The team posted a .301 hitting percentage with 48 kills. Sofia Gonzalez led with 19 kills and a .390 hitting percentage. Valerie Hurdle added nine kills, and Ariana Woods contributed eight. Dallas White and Chloe Rodriguez each recorded 18 assists. The team scored 57 points through offense and collected 52 digs, led by 16 from Rose.
The second match saw Northwest dominate Champion Christian 3-0, with the team allowing just 18 points. The Rangers served a season-high 18 aces, led by four each from Woods and Laney Wier. Kylee Garcia led in kills with seven, followed by Jersi Wilson with six. Payton Davis posted 12 assists, and White added 10. The team hit .469 and only needed 25 digs to secure the victory.
Northwest will return home for a key matchup against No. 21 Pearl River Community College on Tuesday. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Howard Coliseum and will be streamed on Ranger TV. The match is a rematch of last year’s five-set semifinal, with the winner gaining a strong position to host the Region 23 Championship in October.
