Northwest Mississippi tops Coahoma in road game, 45-7

Senatobia, Miss. — The Coahoma Community College Tigers faced a tough road challenge Thursday night and lost 45-7 to the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers at Bobby Franklin Field.

Northwest took control early, establishing a 35-0 halftime lead. The Rangers showcased a balanced offensive attack and added a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second half.

Coahoma found some momentum in the fourth quarter. Tiger quarterback Jacob Clopton connected with wide receiver Jaden Moses on an 18-yard touchdown pass with 12:17 remaining. Clopton completed 15 of 24 passes for 120 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Moses led the Tigers with 10 receptions for 76 yards.

On the ground, Prentavis Madison led Coahoma with 38 yards on 15 carries, while Clopton added 29 rushing yards on nine attempts. The Tigers totaled 191 yards — 120 passing and 71 rushing — and controlled the ball for 31 minutes, 22 seconds. Defensively, Deshun Brooks led with six tackles, with Jason Spencer and Derrion Gould recording four tackles each.

Northwest finished with 449 total yards, including 262 passing yards and 187 rushing yards. Noah Gillon accounted for 275 yards of total offense and three touchdowns. Damon Sisa returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown.

The Tigers will return to action next week at home against East Mississippi Community College on Thursday, Oct. 8, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Founded in 1949, Coahoma Community College is a public, historically Black community college serving the Mississippi Delta. The college offers associate degrees and certificates across various academic and career programs and is known for its nursing, health sciences, and technical education programs.
