Northwest Mississippi football drops to No. 14 in NJCAA polls after loss

The Northwest Mississippi Community College football team is ranked No. 14 in the NJCAA week four poll after losing 17-16 to Copiah-Lincoln Community College last week, according to the NJCAA. The loss marked the first time since 2014 that the Rangers have suffered back-to-back regular-season defeats.

The team, with a 1-2 record, is one of only two teams in the top 15 with losing records. Coffeeville Community College in Kansas is also below .500, sitting at No. 15. The Mid-South Athletic Conference (MACCC) remains well-represented, with six teams either ranked or receiving votes.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, ranked No. 3 with a 3-0 record, is the highest-ranked MACCC team. East Mississippi Community College, also 3-0, is ranked No. 5. Co-Lin moved up from outside the top 15 to No. 10, tied with Navarro College of Texas. Itawamba Community College and Jones College, both 2-1, are outside the top 15.

The Rangers will host Mississippi Delta Community College on Thursday at Bobby Franklin Field.
