Jones College Volleyball Edges Southwest in Five Sets

ELLISVILLE, Miss. — The No. 23 Jones College volleyball team recovered from a straight-set loss to Northwest Mississippi to beat Southwest Mississippi in five sets Wednesday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.

The Bobcats claimed victory with set scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-18, 25-27 and 15-10. They moved to 12-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Jones opened the match strongly, hitting .481 with 14 kills and only one attack error. Southwest responded in the second set, limiting the Bobcats to a .179 attack percentage and tying the match at one set apiece.

The Bobcats took control again in the third, hitting .286 and winning 25-18. Southwest pushed the match to a fifth set after a 27-25 victory in the fourth. In the decisive frame, Jones hit .321 with 12 kills and finished strong to win 15-10.
