Northwest sophomore hitter Jacia Hayes has earned Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week accolades from the MACCC, the conference announced on Tuesday morning.
In a week that saw the Lady Rangers go 4-2 in six total matches, Hayes put up 51 kills, soaring to a team-high 72 kills on the season.
In the most recent three matches for Northwest, Hayes totaled 12 kills in a gritty victory against Chattanooga State and 11 apiece in matches against Wallace State-Hanceville and Snead State.
Additionally, Hayes also tallied 12 blocks over the past week, including five alone in last Saturday’s win over Snead State.
Hayes is the first Northwest volleyball player to earn Player of the Week accolades and just the second recipient since the MACCC introduced the weekly honors for the 2023 season.
Currently, Northwest sits at 4-6 on the season. The Lady Rangers will take on Williams Baptist University on Friday, September 1 at 3 P.M., before returning home for four matches next week against MUW JV, John Melvin University, Northeast and Pensacola State. All four home contests will be held at Howard Coliseum and carried on Ranger TV.
