William Carey closed its home schedule with a three-set win over Blue Mountain Christian on Saturday at the Ben Waddle Sports Facility in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
The Lady Crusaders took the first set 25-23 after Blue Mountain rallied to tie it at 23. Gabriela Martensson and Rachel Stegall delivered consecutive kills to finish the set. Carey then built a 19-11 lead in the second and won 25-20 for a 2-0 advantage.
Carey opened the third set with five straight points, but Blue Mountain fought back to take an 18-17 lead. The teams traded points late before a Martensson kill and a Blue Mountain attack error put the Lady Crusaders within a point of victory. Ziegler and Villarreal ended the match with a block.
William Carey was scheduled to travel to New Orleans for a conference match against Loyola University on Friday, Nov. 6, with first serve listed for 6 p.m. Central time.
