W Men’s Golf Finishes Second at Rhodes Invitational in Season Opener

ROBINSONVILLE, Miss. — The W men’s golf team made a strong impression in its first tournament of the 2026-27 season, finishing second at the Rhodes Invitational. The Owls shot a combined score of 289-293-299—881—placing them behind host Rhodes College, which finished 15 shots ahead, according to team officials.

With this performance, MUW’s team total ranks as the sixth-best three-round score in program history. Four Owls golfers, along with one independent player, finished in the top 25 of the 65-player field.

Transfer junior Braden Beverage led MUW with an impressive debut, carding rounds of 73, 67 and 77 for a total of 217. His second-round 67 included two eagles, two birdies and just one bogey. That score was the second-lowest single-round score in program history, and his 54-hole total ranks eighth all-time at MUW, according to team statistics.

Senior Nicklaus Ledbetter finished tied for 21st at 225 after rounds of 77, 75 and 73, jumping nine spots in the final round. Three other players— Carson Minish (226), Cole Baglione (226), and Trace Novak (226)—shared 24th place, with Novak competing as an independent for the weekend.

Senior Cameron James was in contention through 36 holes with back-to-back par rounds of 72 but finished with an 87 in the final round. He ended the tournament tied for 37th, but coach Williams remains optimistic about James’ potential contribution.
