HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss soccer is set to play its first Sun Belt Conference away match Thursday at Arkansas State’s A-State Soccer Complex in Jonesboro. The game kicks off at 4 p.m. CT, and live streaming and stats are available, according to the university.
The Golden Eagles enter the match with a 3-3-2 record overall and are 0-1 in conference play. They opened Sun Belt play last Friday against James Madison. Prior to that, Southern Miss went unbeaten in four matches, with wins over Southern and Nicholls.
Southern Miss is averaging 13.6 shots per game and has outshot opponents 109-99 through eight matches. The team has scored 17 goals, with production coming from nine different players. Ava Bynes leads the team with four goals and nine points, while Ryan Smith has two goals and two assists. Olivia Tribolet, Oliwia Loeman, and Shaelynn Quick each have two goals.
Southern Miss holds a strong series record over Arkansas State, leading 5-1-3 all-time and remaining undefeated at the Red Wolves’ home field with a 1-0-3 record. The last two meetings in Jonesboro ended in 2-2 draws, including the most recent in 2024. Arkansas State’s only series win came last season, a 5-1 victory in Hattiesburg.
The Red Wolves are coming off a 3-0 loss to Georgia Southern on Sept. 13, their Sun Belt opener. They have scored eight goals in seven matches, averaging 13.1 shots per game and have taken 36 corner kicks. Their home record is 1-1-2, with the lone win against Stephen F. Austin on Aug. 27. Elleigh Newcomb leads Arkansas State with three goals, while Kennedy Horn has two goals and an assist. Lucia Flores and Maddy Tapley also have scored twice each.
