SLIAC Women’s Golf Championships Set to Mark 10th Anniversary

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will host its 10th women’s golf championship at Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, Indiana, starting Sunday. The event includes 11 teams competing over three rounds across three days.

Play begins with staggered tee times at 10 a.m. on Sunday and Monday, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start scheduled for Tuesday, according to organizers. Last year’s champion, Grinnell College, aims to extend its seven-year winning streak. The Pioneers posted a team average of 302.4 this fall and recorded a low round of 296 at the Tartan Invitational. Madison Chen leads the team with a 72.4 scoring average and has been the top scorer in all three events this season.

Blackburn College finished seventh at last year’s championship and has a team average of 445.0 over four fall events. Mailee Schoen paces the team with a 99.2 average and has been the team’s leading finisher each tournament. Eureka College recently competed in two events last week. Their lineup of Jacey Etheridge, Maleaha Nagel, and Kaleigh Zerrusen are within seven strokes of each other’s averages.

First-year conference member Greenville University has a team average of 461.3, with Gracie Craft leading at 90.0. Illinois College, which finished fourth last year, holds a 367.0 team average and is led by senior Shelby Seiler, who averages 82.0 and shot an 80 this fall. Knox College returns after a four-year hiatus, posting a 483.5 team average; Jiya Gupta leads with a 103.0 scoring average and two top finishes.

Lyon College will send three individual players to the tournament: Zoe Anderson, Sajani Sharma, and Austyn Teufel. Anderson has a 101.5 average, with Teufel close behind. Monmouth College, which finished eighth last year, returns with a team average of 394.3, led by Leighton Trego’s 88.7. The team’s best round this fall was an 84 by Lexie Campbell.

Mississippi University for Women, which placed third at last year’s championship, is participating for the first time since 2019. The Owls have a team average of 320.5, with Ashely Estabrook, a previous All-Conference honoree, expected to contend for the top spot. Reagan Darden and Isabel Velazquez will also compete for MUW. Spalding University carries a 442.5 team average, with Emma Young leading at 91.7 and consistently top in their four events this season.

Westminster College finished sixth last year, its best since 2021, with a 401.8 team average. Vera Fosnow and Breckyn Shewmake are among the top players, both shooting in the 80s. The tournament promises competitive action among the 11 teams, celebrating a milestone for conference women’s golf.
