Eureka, Ill. — Reagan Shinn scored two goals in the first half to lift Mississippi University for Women to its first win of the 2026 season, a 2-0 victory over Eureka College in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game Thursday.
The victory moved the Owls to 1-6-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play. Eureka fell to 1-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the SLIAC.
Shinn, a freshman from Niceville, Florida, fired nine shots, a third of her team’s total, and scored twice against a school where former U.S. President Ronald Reagan attended. Her goals came in the 30th minute and just before halftime, helping the Owls secure their first win of the season. The first goal was set up by Emma Hall, and the second was assisted by Layla Escobedo.
In the second half, MUW’s goalkeeper Cam Lopez made four of her five saves to preserve the shutout. The Owls outshot Eureka 22-8 overall and held a 13-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Mississippi University for Women head coach Valerie Greer praised her team after the game, noting the effort and composure of her freshman scorer. The Owls will look to build on the win in their next match Saturday at Principia College in Elsah, Illinois.
