Mississippi Christian women’s soccer hosts AUM in Gulf South Conference matchup
CLINTON, Miss. — The Mississippi Christian women’s soccer team hosts Auburn University at Montgomery on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Robert P. Longabaugh Field. The Gulf South Conference matchup offers both teams a chance to gain ground in league standings, according to school officials.
The Lady Choctaws enter the game with a 4-3-2 overall record and a 1-2-2 mark in conference play. They have scored 12 goals through nine matches and have taken 103 shots, with 47 on target. Their offense features multiple players contributing, led by junior forward Jaylen Bodry, who has seven points on two goals and three assists. Bodry leads the team with 25 shots and 13 on goal.
Senior forward Abby Badurak and junior forward Kerri O’Hara each have three goals. Goals also come from Parker St. Amant, Lillie McCutchen and Jadyn Lo Bue-Holzer. In goal, freshman Paityn Settlemires and sophomore Brynn Hedberg have split time, with Settlemires posting a 0.67 goals-against average and an .800 save percentage. Hedberg has a 2.44 GAA and a .621 save percentage.
Mississippi Christian looks to rebound after a 1-0 loss to Lee on Sept. 26. The team’s offensive production and balanced attack will be key against AUM, which features a primary offensive threat in senior forward Eva Hendriks. Hendriks has four goals and one assist for nine points, with 37 shots overall.
AUM enters the game with a 3-5-2 record, including a 1-4 conference mark. The Warhawks have scored nine goals and allowed nine, with 108 shots taken. Besides Hendriks, Chloe Wallace and Bella Ingstrom have each scored once and assisted twice. Jenna Buice has one goal and one assist.
The Warhawks are looking to end a three-match losing streak and turn their season around. Mississippi Christian hopes to capitalize on home-field advantage to create scoring chances and secure a win in what could be a pivotal conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday in Clinton.
