Jackson, Miss. — Millsaps College volleyball senior libero Sandy Bourgeois earned the Southern Athletic Association Defensive Athlete of the Week honor Monday following a standout performance at the Millsaps-Belhaven Invitational.
During the Majors’ 4-0 weekend, Bourgeois appeared in three matches and totaled 85 digs, 15 assists, and four aces. She set an SAA record with 50 digs in a five-set comeback victory over LeTourneau on Friday.
Bourgeois also contributed to Millsaps’ wins over Centenary and Huntingdon on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The league-wide vote by sports information directors led to her receiving the award, marking her second SAA Defensive Athlete of the Week honor in her career.
