Faulkner Beats Crusaders 2-0 in Men’s Soccer

Montgomery, Ala. — The Crusaders lost their first game of the season Saturday afternoon, dropping a 2-0 decision to Faulkner University.

Faulkner dominated the first half, outshooting Carey 11-3 and putting seven shots on goal. Bernardo Juca scored in the eighth minute to give the Eagles an early lead.

The Crusader defense responded after the goal, fending off several scoring chances and keeping the deficit at one. Faulkner added a second goal in the 31st minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Carey came out stronger after the break, increasing offensive pressure and tightening its defense. The Crusaders limited Faulkner to just two shots on goal in the second half and recorded six shots on target after only two in the first half.

Despite the improved effort, Carey was unable to score against Faulkner’s defense. The Eagles held on for the 2-0 victory.

The Crusaders are scheduled to return to action Friday, Sept. 25, when they travel to Marietta, Georgia, to face Life University. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
