Delta State’s Nick Clark named Gulf South Conference offensive player of the week
Delta State redshirt sophomore running back Nick Clark was named Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Statesmen beat nationally ranked West Alabama 37-33 last weekend.
Clark rushed for a career-high 178 yards and scored a touchdown in the homecoming game in Cleveland. It was his second 100-yard rushing performance of the season. Graduate running back Qualon Farrar received the conference honor the previous week, making it the second straight week a Delta State running back has been recognized.
Through seven games, Clark has 500 rushing yards and three touchdowns. During Delta State’s four-game winning streak, he has averaged 119.5 rushing yards and 5.2 yards per carry, with three touchdowns.
The Statesmen travel to Maryland this weekend to play Frostburg State in their final nonconference game of the regular season.
