Blue Mountain Christian Women’s Golf Finishes Sixth at Carey Collegiate

Hattiesburg, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian University’s women’s golf team finished sixth at the Carey Collegiate, played at Canebrake Country Club. The Toppers posted their best team score in the second round with a 322 and followed with a 325 in the final round.

Ansley Pratt led the team with an 18th-place finish after shooting rounds of 79, 78 and 80, totaling 237 (+21). Her second-round 78 was her lowest score of the tournament. Giuliana Frutos finished with a 248 (+32) after rounds of 84, 79 and 85.

Morgan Dabbs improved in each round, ending with scores of 87, 82 and 81 for a total of 250 (+34). Kayla Shaull also finished strong, carding a 79 in the final round after rounds of 84 and 88, ending at 251 (+35). Abby Gattis shot rounds of 87 and 83 in the first two rounds.

Competing individually, Erin Porter posted one of BMCU’s best scores with a 77 in the second round. She finished with totals of 82, 77 and 85 for a 244 (+28). Abby Moore also played as an individual, with rounds of 100, 86 and 91.

Head coach Kevin Barefield expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance. “We had several good individual rounds throughout the tournament, and I was pleased with the way our team continued to compete over all three rounds,” he said. “We saw some encouraging things that we can take with us as we continue through the fall season.”
