Belmont boys get comeback win over Kossuth as Lady Cards fall

The Belmont boys got a come from behind victory over rival Kossuth on Tuesday as the Lady Cardinals fell in a rematch of last seasons state championship.

The Cardinals fell behind 11-3 after the first quarter and trailed 24-16 at the half but used a big second half to claim a 48-44 win.

Belmont outscored the Aggies 32-20 in the 2nd half, led by Karsten Bryan’s 9 points and Avery Kuykendall connecting on all 8 of his FT attempts in the 2nd half and all ten for the game.

Brayn and Kuykendall each led with 12 points for the game.

In girls action, the Lady Cardinals fell to the Lady Aggies in a back and forth contest 54-48.

MaryGrace Storment, Macie Walker and Lydie Liles each had 10 points while Abby Kuykendall had 9.

Belmont is back in action Thursday against Red Bay, AL.
