BMCU’s Smith named SSAC Pitcher of the Week

The Southern States Athletic Conference has announced that Blue Mountain Christian’s Josh Smith has been named its Pitcher of the Week.

The lefty torched Stillman Saturday, March 4 for a complete-game one-hitter where he fanned 10 Tiger hitters.

The Tupelo senior is currently 3-1 on the season and sports a 3.38 ERA with 33 strikeouts across 32 innings. 

“Josh has just had a superb season on the mound thus far,” BMCU head coach Taylor Clark said.  “He’s crafty and his fastball has been lively.  He’s been a workhorse and we expect him to continue to be a strong leader for our pitching staff.”

Smith and the Toppers are off to one of the best starts in program history with a 17-3 record overall and 3-0 in the SSAC, riding a 10-game winning streak.
