William Carey tops Blue Mountain Christian in SSAC clash

Hattiesburg, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian traveled Friday night to face William Carey in Southern States Athletic Conference play. The Toppers exhibited offensive rhythm and resilience but ultimately lost 111-89 in a fast-paced game.

William Carey took control early, using tempo and scoring depth to establish a lead. Despite the deficit, Blue Mountain Christian responded with streaks of efficient offense. The Toppers moved the ball well, found good looks from beyond the arc, and stayed aggressive attacking the basket as the game progressed.

They competed on both ends of the floor, stringing together scoring runs and battling on the glass in a tough road environment. The team shot 48.5% from the field and 45.8% from three-point range, demonstrating confidence against a high-scoring opponent. They also generated opportunities at the free-throw line and worked to limit second chances for William Carey.

Leading the Toppers offensively was Michael Hill, who scored 24 points from multiple areas of the floor. Gavin Shannon contributed 18 points and 15 rebounds, providing a strong presence in the paint and creating extra possessions. Jalen Boyd-Savage added 22 points, connecting on five three-pointers, while Braxton Taylor scored 11. Esrael Yant added seven points off the bench, providing energy during key stretches.
