Weather Suspends Softball Game Between Alcorn and Grambling State

Lorman, Miss. — Heavy storms and lightning forced the suspension of the Southwestern Athletic Conference softball game between Alcorn State and Grambling State on Thursday afternoon. The game was tied 10-10 in the middle of the eighth inning.

Alcorn coaches, Grambling coaches, and officials met with umpires to decide on suspending the game due to dangerous weather conditions. Storms moved through the area, bringing heavy rain and lightning that lasted more than an hour, making play unsafe.

The Alcorn Softball Complex’s field quickly became saturated, prompting the decision to halt the game for player safety. A makeup date has not been announced. Further updates will be available on AlcornSports.com and the school’s social media channels.
