Tray Huguley Named SLIAC Male Athlete of the Year
Mississippi University for Women men’s basketball standout Tray Huguley has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Male Athlete of the Year for the 2025-26 season. He is the first student-athlete from MUW to earn this honor, according to the conference.
Huguley helped lead MUW to its first-ever SLIAC tournament championship and secured the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III national championship tournament. This marked the Owls’ first appearance in the NCAA Division III postseason.
The sophomore forward averaged 22.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, recording 18 double-doubles during the season. He scored at least 10 points in all 26 games, including a school-record 51-point game against Greenville University on Dec. 6, 2025, and a school-record 22 rebounds versus Southeastern Baptist on Jan. 13, 2026.
Huguley was named first-team All-SLIAC and earned the league’s Player of the Year award. He also received six SLIAC Player of the Week honors and was selected to the NCAA Division III all-region team by both the National Association of Basketball Coaches and D3Hoops.com, according to the university.
MUW’s former head coach and now assistant athletic director Dean Burrows praised Huguley’s season. “This is certainly a well-deserved honor for Tray after such an impressive season,” Burrows said. “The fact that he came in as a first-year player and produced at a record-breaking pace shows MUW is a great place for top players to succeed on the court and in the classroom.”
Burrows added that the award reflects the team’s collective effort. “When opponents focused too much on Tray, other players stepped up and contributed successfully.”
