Games To Watch: Bay–St. Patrick rematch joins DeSoto soccer openers
A quick Coast rematch and a pair of DeSoto County doubleheaders lead Monday’s Games To Watch. Bay visits St. Patrick after their Saturday draw, while Hernando and DeSoto Central welcome opponents for girls and boys soccer. October 26 is the MHSAA calendar’s first-game date for soccer, although several teams’ MaxPreps records already include Saturday’s posted results.
Bay and St. Patrick get an immediate rematch
The most direct comparison on the slate is in Biloxi, where St. Patrick hosts Bay at 7:30 p.m. CDT. The teams finished 1–1 at St. Patrick on October 24. That gives this meeting a recent, concrete point of reference: neither side separated itself that afternoon. MaxPreps now lists the Fighting Irish at 1–0–1 and Bay at 0–1–1 entering Monday.
St. Stanislaus brings a winning start to Northwest Rankin
St. Stanislaus travels to Northwest Rankin for a 6 p.m. CDT boys match in Brandon. The Rock-a-Chaws’ posted 2–0 record comes from Saturday victories at George County, 1–0, and Bay, 2–0. Neither opponent scored. Northwest Rankin’s current schedule and matchup list the Cougars at 0–0, making this a meeting between a side with two results already recorded and a host seeking its first posted result.
Two DeSoto doubleheaders start from a clean slate
Hernando hosts Lake Cormorant, with the girls scheduled for 5 p.m. CDT and the boys for 7. Both schools’ girls and boys teams enter with 0–0 records on MaxPreps. These nonconference matches will supply their first posted results, an early reference point for the weeks ahead.
Oxford visits DeSoto Central in Southaven, girls at 5:30 p.m. CDT and boys at 7. All four teams are likewise listed at 0–0, and both fixtures are marked nonconference. As at Hernando, each side has an opportunity to put a first victory beside that clean slate.
Ocean Springs and Our Lady Academy look beyond split Saturdays
Our Lady Academy hosts Ocean Springs in Bay St. Louis at 5:30 p.m. CDT. Both girls teams carry posted 1–1 records, but arrived there through different opponents. Our Lady Academy beat D’Iberville 3–1 before losing 2–0 to Bay. Ocean Springs beat St. Patrick 1–0 and then lost 1–0 to Brandon. Each now has a chance to follow a split Saturday with a winning result against the other.

Reporting note: Ripley–Caledonia soccer is omitted because the school calendar and MaxPreps disagree about the host. That conflict must be resolved before directing readers to a venue. This edition selects verified upcoming soccer matches from the wider varsity sports review.
