Southern Miss Softball Hosts Alcorn State in Mid-Week Game
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss softball hosts Alcorn State on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Southern Miss Softball Complex. The Golden Eagles enter the game with a 13-8 record and are riding a six-game winning streak.
The matchup marks the 27th meeting between the programs, with Southern Miss holding a dominant 25-1 series lead. The only loss for the Golden Eagles came in 2009. The teams first played in 2007, when Southern Miss won 4-1 in Oxford, Mississippi.
Southern Miss is coming off a weekend sweep at the Hub City Classic. The team leads the Sun Belt Conference in triples, walks, sacrifice flies, sacrifice hits, assists, and fielding percentage. The Eagles are also ranked in the top third of the conference in batting average, doubles, and on-base percentage.
Pitcher Madilyn Graham is tied for first in the nation with a 0.00 ERA among qualified pitchers. Kayla Giardina and Graham are tied for sixth nationally with two complete games each. Several players lead conference categories in fielding and assists, including Kayce Bennett, Kinsley Gordon-Sivley, and Hannah Christian, all with perfect fielding percentages.
