The University of Southern Mississippi unveiled its 2026 football schedule Friday afternoon, highlighting six home games and a matchup against last season’s Sun Belt Conference champion James Madison.

The non-conference slate opens with a game against Alcorn State on Sept. 5 in Hattiesburg. The Golden Eagles will also face UConn for the first time in football on Sept. 19. Southern Miss begins Sun Belt Conference play on Oct. 6 with a nationally televised game at Troy. The team then returns home to face Arkansas State on Oct. 17 and Louisiana on Oct. 24, with the Louisiana game serving as the homecoming contest. The Golden Eagles close October with a game at ULM on Halloween.

The team’s November schedule features a home game against James Madison on Nov. 5, followed by an away game at Louisiana Tech on Nov. 14. The regular season concludes with home games versus South Alabama on Nov. 21 and an away matchup at Old Dominion on Nov. 28. The Sun Belt Championship game is scheduled for Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

Kickoff times and television networks for early-season games will be announced in May.
