Southern Miss earns No. 9 seed for 2026 NCAA baseball tournament regional

Southern Miss baseball received the No. 9 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. The Golden Eagles will host the Hattiesburg Regional, which starts May 29 at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.

The Golden Eagles (44-15, 22-8 Sun Belt) are the No. 1 seed in the regional and will face No. 4 seed Little Rock (36-26, 16-11 Ohio Valley) at 1 p.m. CT on Friday. Virginia (36-21, 14-16 Atlantic Coast) and Jacksonville State (46-13, 23-7 Conference USA) will meet at 6 p.m. in the other opening game.

The double-elimination tournament runs through Sunday, May 31, with the possibility of a final game on June 1 if necessary. The full schedule includes two games each day, with matchups to be determined for Saturday and Sunday. The championship game would be held Monday if needed, according to the NCAA.

All games will be streamed on ESPN+ or other networks, with times and matchups to be finalized. The regional marks a significant milestone for Southern Miss, which aims to advance further in the tournament after earning the top seed at home.
