Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Earns First Win of Season at Third Coast Challenge
HOUSTON — The University of Southern Mississippi beach volleyball team earned its first win of the 2026 season at the Third Coast Challenge, held Friday in Houston.
The Golden Eagles defeated Tarleton State 4-1 in their second dual of the day, with all matches decided in two sets. Southern Miss dropped the first point but responded with four straight wins, including victories from Y-Nhu Do and Lillie Johnson at the fifth flight, and Jaden White and Kitija Martini Adamsone at the third flight.
Earlier, Southern Miss narrowly lost to Saint Mary’s 3-2 in a competitive dual. The Golden Eagles opened the scoring with a three-set victory from Zuzanna Michalska and Abby Lewis. Saint Mary’s responded with wins at the second and third flights, including a five-set thriller at the top flight involving Laurel Dennis and Sadia McAda, who earned their first start together at the first position.
Southern Miss is set to conclude the Third Coast Challenge with two more dual matches Saturday, facing No. 3 Cal Poly at noon and Houston Christian at 4 p.m. Live statistics are available through StatBroadcast on SouthernMiss.com and usm.statbroadcast.com.
