Persy Llamas Hits Walk-Off Double as No. 21 Ole Miss Softball Edges Miami 4-3
OXFORD, Miss. — The No. 21 Ole Miss softball team won its third straight game Monday, defeating Miami 4-3 in a walk-off victory at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium, according to team officials.
Persy Llamas delivered the game-winning hit with a double to right-center field in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Rebels (7-4) overcame a 3-2 deficit in the sixth to earn the win.
Ole Miss opened the scoring early, with singles from Madi George and Cassie Reasner followed by a two-RBI single from Rachel Connors, giving the Rebels a 2-0 lead. Miami responded with a solo home run in the sixth inning to take a 3-2 advantage, but Ole Miss answered in the bottom half.
Emilee Boyer pitched four strong innings, allowing just three hits. In the sixth, Miami’s Bailey Manos hit a home run to cut the lead. Ole Miss responded with a rally, as George doubled, and Grace Thompson scored on a groundout to tie the game at 3.
Kyra Aycock pitched a scoreless seventh inning to set up Llamas’ walk-off. After Taylor Malvin and Mackenzie Pickens reached base, Llamas sealed the victory with her double, bringing home the winning run.
The Rebels will continue their season at the Green & Gold Classic in Birmingham, Alabama, facing Mercer on Friday. Ole Miss is coached by Jamie Trachsel, who recently became the program’s winningest coach.
