Pellot Takes Lead After Opening Round at Moon Golf Invitational

Melbourne, Fla. — Izzy Pellot shot a season-best 3-under 69 in the opening round of the Moon Golf Invitational, placing her sole possession of the lead, according to the tournament organizers. Pellot, a Florida native, recorded her eighth career round in the 60s and was the only player to shoot in the 60s during the first round.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are in seventh place as a team, finishing at 9-over par. Pellot’s performance marked her first round in the 60s since last season’s SEC Championship, where she also shot 3-under in stroke play. Her round ties her for seventh most in 60s among all MSU players and marks her 35th career round par or better, ranking sixth in school history.

Eight individuals finished under par in the opening round, but Pellot was the only one to shoot in the 60s. The field looks to make ground on Texas A&M, which leads the tournament at 3-under par after the first day. The Aggies were the only team to finish under par for the round.

Live scoring is available at scoreboard.clippd.com. The second round will continue Monday, with Mississippi State seeking to improve its position ahead of the final days of the invitational.
