Ole Miss Women’s Tennis to Host Top-10 Texas Teams this Weekend
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss women’s tennis will host two highly ranked teams from Texas this weekend. The Rebels will face No. 3 Texas A&M on Friday and No. 7 Texas on Sunday at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center.
Ole Miss (9-7, 3-6 SEC) is coming off a 2-1 week, splitting SEC matches with a loss at No. 12 Vanderbilt and a win over Missouri. They also defeated Missouri State in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Rebels’ upcoming challenge against Texas A&M (16-3, 8-1 SEC) is set for Friday at 3 p.m., while the match against Texas (12-4, 7-2 SEC) is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
Texas A&M has been a dominant force this season, with an impressive resume that includes an appearance in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship semifinals. The Aggies have a strong singles lineup featuring four ranked players, including No. 2 Lucciana Perez. Their only SEC loss was to No. 1 Georgia.
Texas has also shown resilience, notably defeating No. 1 Georgia during SEC play. They went 2-1 at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, competing against top programs. Ole Miss previously defeated Texas 4-2 in Austin last spring, a significant victory for the Rebels.
Ole Miss features several standout players, including freshman Riley Crowder, ranked as Alabama’s top recruit in 2025, and senior Ichino Horikawa, who posted a career-high ITF Junior ranking of No. 173. The team also includes experienced players such as junior Andrea Nova and sophomore Emily Welker, who led the Rebels with 13 wins last season.
The Rebels recently added three freshmen, including Crowder and Mississippi native Owen Wilkinson, a top-ranked recruit who won two state singles titles. The team’s matches this weekend highlight Ole Miss’s efforts to compete against nationally ranked teams and improve their SEC standings.
