Ole Miss Women’s Tennis to Face No. 12 Vanderbilt Before Hosting Missouri

The University of Mississippi women’s tennis team will split its schedule this week, traveling to Nashville to face No. 12 Vanderbilt and returning home to host Missouri.

Ole Miss (7-6, 2-5 SEC) recently went 1-1 on a road trip out west, losing to No. 9 Oklahoma and defeating No. 50 Arkansas. The Rebels are seeking to add two more SEC wins this weekend.

The Rebels will face Vanderbilt at the Lummis Family Tennis Center in Nashville on Thursday, March 19, at 5 p.m. The Commodores have been one of the top teams nationally this spring, advancing to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship after a strong start. They have posted four straight SEC victories, including a 4-2 win over No. 1 Georgia.

Following their trip, Ole Miss will return home to face Missouri at the Palmer Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center on Saturday, March 21, at 1 p.m. The Tigers (9-9, 0-7 SEC) are on a seven-match losing streak in conference play and will be looking to turn their season around, especially after facing No. 11 LSU and nonconference opponents before traveling to Oxford.

The last meeting between Ole Miss and Missouri was in the SEC tournament last spring, with the Rebels winning 4-1.

Ole Miss has several key players, including freshman Riley Crowder, who is the No. 1 recruit from Alabama, and senior Ichino Horikawa, who helped upset No. 4 LSU last season. The team also features junior Andrea Nova and sophomore Emily Welker, both of whom have been leaders this season.
