Ole Miss Women’s Tennis Opens SEC Play Against No. 4 LSU
Ole Miss women’s tennis will open its Southeastern Conference schedule Sunday at home against No. 4 LSU. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center in Oxford, Mississippi, according to university athletics officials.
The Rebels enter the match with a 5-1 record. LSU is 7-1 and has secured wins over ranked opponents including No. 18 UCLA, No. 14 Tennessee, and No. 9 North Carolina State. Their only loss was to No. 1 Georgia in the ITA National Team Indoor Quarterfinal, sources said.
Ole Miss fans attending the match will receive a free Ole Miss bandana stuffed animal, a university spokesperson confirmed. The game marks the start of conference play for the Rebels, who have a chance to score a marquee victory against a top-ranked team.
Ole Miss’s roster features several notable players, including freshman Riley Crowder, the No. 1 recruit from Alabama in the 2025 class, and senior Ichino Horikawa from Japan. The team also includes experienced players like senior Emma Kette and junior Andrea Nova, who helped the Rebels reach the NCAA Tournament last season.
LSU’s top singles player is No. 11 Emily Welker of Ole Miss, while the Tigers feature several players ranked in the top 115 nationally in singles and doubles, according to rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Ole Miss returns five players from last year’s team, with Nova leading with 13 wins in the spring. The Rebels also added three freshmen, including Crowder and Wilkinson, both highly ranked recruits. The match will be broadcast with live stats available online.
