Ole Miss Women’s Basketball’s Cotie McMahon Named SEC Co-Player of the Week

Cotie McMahon of No. 18/17 Ole Miss women’s basketball was named SEC Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday, the conference announced. The award marks her first in the SEC and her eighth weekly conference honor overall, including six Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards and a Big Ten Player of the Week recognition on Jan. 22, 2024.

McMahon had an impressive week, guiding the Rebels to wins over No. 5 Oklahoma and Mississippi State. Against Oklahoma, she scored 22 points, added four assists and four rebounds, and helped secure a 74-69 victory. McMahon made a crucial free throw in the final minute after a hard foul in Norman, sealing the win.

In the rivalry game against Mississippi State, she scored 21 points, her 10th game of at least 20 points this season. McMahon has scored in double figures in all 19 games this season, tying Ole Miss legend Bianca Thomas for the longest such streak to start a season since 2009-10. She totaled 43 points across the two games, ranking third in the SEC in total points this week, just a field goal behind the leader.

McMahon also ranked third in total field goals made (16) and three-point percentage (44.4%) among SEC players. Alabama’s Jessica Timmons and Tennessee’s Mia Pauldo also received weekly honors.
