Ole Miss Women’s Basketball to Face Texas in SEC Tournament Semifinals
Ole Miss women’s basketball will meet Texas in the SEC Tournament semifinals Saturday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central Time, and the game will air on ESPN2, according to the university.
The Rebels (23-10, 8-8 SEC) secured their spot after defeating Vanderbilt 89-78 Friday. Ole Miss has now reached the SEC Tournament semifinals four times in the past five years. The victory marked their third consecutive win over Vanderbilt and their first SEC Tournament win against the Commodores.
Ole Miss coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, now in her eighth season, improved her record to 6-0 against Vanderbilt coach Shea Ralph. The team has also achieved a school-record three wins over top-five opponents this season, a feat not accomplished since the 2006-07 season.
The Rebels are set to face Texas, which boasts a 29-3 record and is ranked No. 4 nationally. Texas is led by head coach Vic Schaefer, in his sixth season, who has guided the Longhorns to consistent success with a 173-39 record at Texas. The Longhorns are currently among the top teams in the country, ranking in the top 10 nationally in six statistical categories.
Junior Madison Booker leads Texas with an average of 18.8 points per game. She was last season’s SEC Player of the Year and has recorded a triple-double this season. The Longhorns also feature Jordan Lee and Kyla Oldacre as double-digit scorers, alongside fifth-year guard Rori Harmon, the program’s all-time assists leader. Texas’s team chemistry and talent have kept them among the nation’s elite this season.
Ole Miss’s recent success included a dominant 89-78 victory over Vanderbilt in the quarterfinals, where Latasha Lattimore scored 28 points and Cotie McMahon added 27. The team set a conference tournament record with 22 assists in that game and held Vanderbilt to just six points in the first quarter. The Rebels have reached the SEC Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2024, marking a significant achievement for the program this season.
Ole Miss will look to upset Texas and advance to the SEC final in Saturday’s game, continuing their historic postseason run. The matchup will be broadcast on ESPN2, with radio coverage available on the Ole Miss Radio Network.
