Ole Miss Softball Hosts Jacksonville State and ULM at Ole Miss Classic
The University of Mississippi softball team is hosting Jacksonville State and ULM this weekend at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium. The Ole Miss Rebels, with a 12-5 record, will play each team twice during the three-day tournament.
Ole Miss will face Jacksonville State on Friday at 5 p.m. and ULM on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., with all games streamed on SEC Network Plus. The schedule continues through Sunday, with Ole Miss playing ULM at 1 p.m.
The Rebels are in the midst of a nine-game home stretch, leading up to SEC play. They are preparing for a challenging start to conference action, which begins March 6 against Alabama. The team is coming off a dominant win over Mercer, where freshman Madi George hit five home runs and drove in 18 RBIs in 17 games.
Head coach Jamie Trachsel became the program’s all-time winningest coach on Feb. 13, recording her 188th victory. Senior pitcher Kyra Aycock has been a key contributor, ranking second in the SEC with four complete games and eighth nationally with six wins.
Freshman Madi George has quickly made an impact, leading the team with five home runs and 18 RBIs. Sophomore Persy Llamas continues her hot streak, batting .426 with three home runs and 18 RBIs. Llamas also earned All-SEC Second Team honors last season and has already been recognized on the preseason All-SEC Team for 2026.
Meanwhile, pitcher Lilly Whitten made history on Feb. 13 by throwing Ole Miss’s sixth solo no-hitter, striking out three in an 8-0 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Whitten has a 3-0 record with a 2.10 ERA this season.
Jacksonville State and ULM each enter the tournament with promising seasons. Jacksonville State, under coach Julie Boland, has a 12-5 record and features key players like sophomore Kailey Martin, who has three home runs and 20 RBIs. ULM, led by coach Molly Fichtner, is 13-5 and boasts a speed-oriented attack with seven starters having high contact rates.
