Ole Miss Softball Edges No. 16 Mississippi State on Walk-Off Homer
Ole Miss softball defeated No. 16 Mississippi State 3-0 Saturday at Alisa and Mark Bourne Stadium in Oxford, Miss., securing the series victory on senior day. Rachel Connors delivered the game-winning three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, rallying the Rebels to their second consecutive walk-off win.
Emilee Boyer pitched a stellar seven-inning game, striking out three and allowing just three hits to keep the Bulldogs off the board. Both pitchers, Boyer for Ole Miss and Mississippi State starter Alyssa Faircloth, exchanged scoreless frames in a matchup dominated by strong pitching.
The game remained scoreless through six innings, with Ole Miss threatening in the fifth and seventh but unable to capitalize until Connors’s dramatic blast. The Rebels’ offensive efforts were limited, but their defense, led by Boyer, kept Mississippi State’s offense quiet throughout the game.
Following the game, Ole Miss will prepare for the SEC Tournament, which begins Tuesday in Lexington, Kentucky. The Rebels will face an opponent to be determined and will play all opening games on the SEC Network, according to the university.
