Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Hosts Three Matches This Weekend
Ole Miss men’s tennis will host three matches this weekend at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center in Oxford, Mississippi. The Rebels (9-0) will try to continue their best start this decade with a doubleheader on Friday and an additional match Sunday.
On Friday, Ole Miss faces Mercer (0-4) at 10:30 a.m. and Memphis (5-2) at 5 p.m. The team then concludes the weekend with a match against Belmont (2-3) on Sunday at 1 p.m. The location for the Belmont game has yet to be announced. The Rebels aim to extend their undefeated streak against the Bearcats and Tigers, both of which arrive with different momentum. Mercer has lost four straight matches, while Memphis recently beat Alabama 4-0 and brings two ranked doubles teams.
The Rebels boast two ranked doubles pairs: No. 18 Isac Strömberg and Kai Milburn, and No. 49 Loan Lestir and Matthieu Chambonniere. Memphis counters with No. 83 Maxime Dobouch and Moritz Kudernatsch, and No. 87 Marcos Castro Fabra and Sam Reeve, both ranked doubles teams. Mercer is looking to break its losing streak, and Belmont hopes to bounce back after weather-related postponements.
Ole Miss has built a strong start under head coach Jacoby, with players such as Chambonniere, Lestir, and Milburn leading the team’s charge. Chambonniere, from Paris, France, finished the 2024 season with a 23-7 singles record and earned the most wins in doubles for the Rebels. Lestir, from Lille, France, has a team-high 10 singles dual wins this season. The team is also led by senior Noah Schlagenhauf and senior Isac Strömberg, both of whom have been key contributors in singles and doubles.
Fans can follow the Rebels’ matches via live video and live stats, with updates available on the team’s social media channels at @OleMissMTennis on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The team’s next scheduled match is against Mercer on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
