Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 6 Mississippi State 6-1

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss men’s tennis lost to No. 6 Mississippi State 6-1 on Friday night at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. The Rebels, now 15-6 overall and 3-6 in SEC play, secured their only point in doubles, where Kai Milburn and Isac Stromberg defeated Mississippi State’s Petar Jovanovic and Be Sanchez Martinez 7-6 (7-4).

The doubles victory marked a season-high-ranked win for Stromberg and D’Agostino. Despite the early lead, Ole Miss was unable to hold it in singles, as Mississippi State swept all six courts to clinch the match.

Ole Miss will travel to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama on Sunday. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Magill Tennis Complex, according to the university’s athletic department.

In singles, Mississippi State’s Be Sanchez Martinez and Petar Jovanovic defeated Stefano D’Agostino and Matthieu Chambonniere, respectively, both with straight-set victories. Mississippi State also won the remaining singles matches, with Niccolo Baroni, Raphael Vaksmann, and Br Hernandez Cortes completing the sweep.

The Rebels will look to rebound in their upcoming matches, including a scheduled meeting with Alabama on Sunday, before continuing their SEC schedule.
