Ole Miss Baseball Sweeps LSU for First Time Since 2022

Ole Miss baseball defeated LSU 8-7 on April 12 in Oxford, securing its first series sweep of the Tigers since 2022. The Rebels improved to 26-11 overall and 8-7 in SEC play, while LSU fell to 22-15 and 6-9 in conference.

The Rebels took an early 7-0 lead through six innings, highlighted by a strong offensive output and a dominant performance from starting pitcher Taylor Rabe. Ole Miss scored two runs in the first inning and added five more in the fourth, including home runs from Owen Paino and Tristan Bissetta.

LSU began to rally in the seventh, blasting back-to-back home runs and scoring a total of seven runs in the inning. Wil Libbert replaced Rabe and allowed a home run but managed to keep the Tigers from tying the game. LSU scored two more runs in the inning, narrowing the gap to 7-5.

In the bottom of the seventh, Brayden Randle delivered the game-winning RBI single, scoring Hayden Federico from third. The Tigers threatened in the ninth but Walker Hooks came on to close the game, earning his second save of the season. Rabe earned the win, while LSU’s Marcos Paz took the loss.

Ole Miss finished with 14 hits, led by Dom Decker and Will Furniss, who each had three. The Rebels will next face Southern Miss on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Pearl, Mississippi.
