Ole Miss baseball sweeps doubleheader against Evansville on Friday night
Ole Miss baseball won both games of a doubleheader against Evansville on Friday night at Swayze Field in Oxford, Mississippi. The Rebels defeated the Aces 7-2 in the first game and 14-2 in the second, extending their winning streak to six games and moving to a 14-2 record for the season, according to team officials.
In the opener, Hunter Elliott pitched five innings, allowing two solo home runs in the second inning but striking out seven batters. Hudson Calhoun finished the game, earning his second save of the season with nine strikeouts in four innings of relief. Ole Miss scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the victory, with key hits from Will Furniss and Dom Decker, and a home run by Tate Sirmans. Every starter recorded at least one hit in the game, according to team statistics.
In the nightcap, Cade Townsend earned the win, pitching five innings of one-hit ball. The Rebels scored six runs in the fourth and five in the fifth, highlighted by home runs from Reuter and Pacella. Daniel Pacella hit two home runs in the game, his third of the season, and drove in four RBIs. Owen Paino and Randle contributed with RBIs, helping Ole Miss build a commanding lead. Evansville scored two late runs in the seventh but could not close the gap.
