WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — The Northwest Mississippi Community College volleyball team kept its undefeated record intact Tuesday, sweeping Williams Baptist University JV in straight sets. The Rangers improved to 5-0 this season and remain undefeated in set play at 15-0.
The match was quick, with Northwest winning the first set 25-12. They held off a challenge in the second set, winning 25-17, before dominating the third 25-9 to complete the sweep. The team displayed balanced attacking, led by sophomore Ariana Woods, who recorded 10 kills with one error for a .529 hitting percentage, her fifth match with double-digit kills this season.
Valerie Hurdle contributed seven kills on 19 attacks, while Sofia Gonzalez finished with five kills and no errors. Chloe Rodriguez and Dallas White each posted 15 and 10 assists, respectively, helping the team total 36 kills from 35 assists. Northwest also served five aces but had nine service errors.
Defensively, the team tallied 13 blocks, including three solo blocks. Woods led with four blocks, while Taylor Tally added three. The back row recorded 41 digs, with Gonzalez and Rose each contributing six. The team’s defensive efforts helped contain Williams Baptist’s attack and limit their scoring opportunities.
This victory closes a stretch of five consecutive away matches for Northwest. The team returns home to face Coahoma Community College in their first official home match of the season.
