Northwest Mississippi men’s golf finishes seventh at Lou Hart Invitational
The Northwest Mississippi Community College men’s golf team finished seventh at the Lou Hart Invitational at Northwood Country Club in Meridian. The Rangers moved up from ninth place after the opening round, shooting a team score of 40-over par on the second day, which marked a significant improvement from their previous tournament earlier this month.
All four counting scores for Northwest finished within the top 50 of a 72-player field, though no player made the top 20. Freshman Fadi Burnet led the team, shooting a combined score of eight-over par over two days. Burnet recorded three birdies in the first round and two more in the second, finishing 23rd overall, dropping one spot from the first day.
Two other Rangers, Braden Beverage and Cole Elander, tied for 30th. Beverage shot two-over par on day two, moving up 16 spots after a day-one performance that included two birdies and three double bogeys. Elander improved his score on day two, with a birdie on the seventh hole and only five bogeys, helping him climb the rankings.
Caesar Ingendorf finished 43rd with a total score of 12-over par after shooting six-over each day. He was the only Ranger to eagle during the tournament, sinking a putt on the par-five sixth hole on day two. Sophomore Landon Masterson, competing as an individual, showed the most improvement, finishing 10-over on day one and five-over on day two, with three birdies in the first round and two in the second.
The team will compete next at the Calhoun Men’s Spring Classic on March 30-31 at Burning Tree Country Club in Decatur, Alabama. The tournament serves as the final event before the MACCC Championships at The Club at Ole Brooke in Brookhaven. Fans can follow the Rangers’ progress on social media or at nwccrangers.com.
