No. 4 Mississippi State routs Alcorn State 19-0 in seven innings

Mississippi State’s baseball team continued its undefeated start with a dominant 19-0 victory over Alcorn State on Wednesday night at Dudy Noble Field. The Bulldogs (5-0) scored early and often, plating four runs in the first inning, five in the second, and four more in the third.

The Bulldogs drew 13 walks and struck out just once while collecting 13 hits. Blake Bevis led the offense with a home run and six RBIs. Drew Wyers went 4-for-4 in his debut, adding a double and an RBI. Freshman Peter Mershon contributed two hits and four RBIs in his first collegiate game.

On the mound, six pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout, striking out 14 and issuing only two walks. Tyler Pitzer started and struck out six in two innings. Maddox Miller earned the win after a scoreless third inning, striking out three. The bullpen combined to finish the game without allowing a hit.

Mississippi State’s homestand continues this weekend with a three-game series against Delaware, beginning Friday at 4 p.m., at Dudy Noble Field.
