MSU is off to a 14-2 start and is considered a top-four team in all five major polls. The Bulldogs swept Lipscomb last week, including a 26-0 victory in seven innings where they allowed only one hit. The team ranks in the top 10 nationally in nine key offensive and pitching categories, including fourth in batting average (.356) and doubles (47), and sixth in runs (172) and hits (191).

Tulane enters the game with a 9-7 record after being swept in a series at No. 17 TCU. The Green Wave lost the opener 10-2, won the second game 8-4, but fell 4-3 in the final game. Tulane is batting .250 with nine home runs and averages 6.9 runs per game. They are aggressive on bases with 29 steals in 32 attempts and have a .974 fielding percentage.
