No. 13 Mississippi State Falls to No. 10 Texas A&M in SEC Baseball Battle
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — No. 13 Mississippi State fell to No. 10 Texas A&M in a back-and-forth SEC baseball game Friday night at Blue Bell Park. The Aggies edged the Bulldogs 11-9 in a slugfest that saw each team showcase power and resilience.
Texas A&M (38-13, 17-11 SEC) scored early, with Caden Sorrell driving in six runs, including a home run, and Blake Binderup adding a three-run homer. Mississippi State (39-15, 16-13 SEC) responded with four home runs of its own, led by Noah Sullivan’s two homers and three RBIs.
The game featured multiple lead changes. Texas A&M took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning before Mississippi State took a 3-2 advantage in the second. The Aggies regained the lead with a big second inning, highlighted by Binderup’s three-run homer. The Bulldogs fought back in the fourth and sixth innings, but Texas A&M pulled ahead again in the fifth and added insurance in the seventh.
Both teams continued to exchange runs until the final inning, when the Aggies added an insurance run. Texas A&M’s Clayton Freshcorn earned his 12th save, while Shane Sdao picked up the win. Duke Stone took the loss for Mississippi State.
The Bulldogs’ offense was powered by Sullivan’s two home runs and three RBIs, and Ryder Woodson’s two hits and three RBIs. Mississippi State’s bullpen kept the game within reach late, but the Aggies held on to even the series.
