Mississippi Valley State to Honor Seniors George Ivory III and Daniel Mayfield
ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University will honor two senior men’s basketball players and a team manager during Saturday’s doubleheader versus Texas Southern. The ceremony will take place between the two games at the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex, according to school officials.
Senior guard George Ivory III and forward Daniel Mayfield will be recognized for their contributions over their college careers. Ivory, a Pine Bluff, Arkansas, native, has appeared in 85 games, starting 21, and averaged 0.9 points per game. Mayfield, from Toccoa, Georgia, has played 22 games this season, averaging 13.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
The Delta Devils will also honor team manager Joshua Westmoreland. Mississippi Valley State (1-26, 0-13 SWAC) hosts Texas Southern (10-15, 8-6 SWAC), which leads the series 58-41 since 1983-84, according to school records. The Tigers have won six consecutive games against the Delta Devils, with their last victory on Jan. 9, 2023.
The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be streamed on SWAC TV, with live radio coverage via G-Line Radio. Tickets are available for the game, and fans can follow updates on the school’s social media channels, including Twitter and Instagram.
Ivory has played in 85 games overall, with career averages including 0.9 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game. Mayfield has contributed significantly this season, with 298 points, 140 rebounds, and a shooting percentage of 42.5% from the field.
