Mississippi Valley State Athletics Hosts Busy Week of Competition and Community Events
ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University Athletics is back in action this week with competitions across various sports and a community event scheduled for the weekend, according to school officials.
The Delta Devils baseball team will start the week with a game at Memphis on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before shifting focus to Southwestern Athletic Conference play. They will face Florida A&M in Tallahassee for a weekend series, beginning with a game Friday at 4 p.m. and concluding with a doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday.
The softball team will host Florida A&M for a three-game series as part of Senior Weekend. The series kicks off Friday at 3 p.m. with a game in Itta Bena, followed by a Saturday doubleheader with games at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., both in Itta Bena. The series concludes Sunday at noon in Tallahassee.
On the track, the men’s and women’s programs will compete at the Strawberry Relays in Hammond, Louisiana, on Friday. Meanwhile, the men’s and women’s tennis teams will participate in the SWAC Championships in New Orleans, with the women seeded eighth and facing top-seeded Jackson State, and the men seeded sixth against fourth-seeded Southern. Tournament play starts Friday.
In addition to athletic competitions, the university will host its Green and White Spring Fest and Community Day on Saturday, April 18. The free event will feature food, inflatables, a flag football game, a car and bike show, horse rides, and more. The event is open to the public, encouraging families and community members to enjoy a day of entertainment on campus.
